Contour is a remote-only marketplace, so the protections have to live in the platform. Here is exactly how we keep money, files and reputations safe.
Escrow on every project
Clients fund the full project value before work starts and Contour holds it. Designers never chase an invoice, and clients never pay for work they haven't seen. Release happens only when the client approves the deliverables.
Private in-platform messaging
All communication runs through the project thread. Phone numbers, emails and addresses are never shared between parties, which keeps the payment protection intact for both sides.
Verified professional profiles
Designer profiles carry a tier badge earned from completed, escrow-released jobs — not self-reported claims. Reviews can only be left by a client who actually paid for the work.
Clear copyright handover
On release of escrow, full ownership of the drawings, models and render files transfers to the client. Designers keep the right to display the work in their Contour portfolio unless the client opts out.
Dispute resolution
If the deliverables don't match the brief, either party can raise a dispute while funds are still held. Contour reviews the brief, the thread and the files before deciding on a release, partial release or refund.
Payments handled by Stripe
Card details never touch Contour's servers. Payments are processed by Stripe, and the platform stores only the transaction reference and its status.
About Contour
Contour exists because landscape design work is increasingly remote, but the tools for hiring it were not. Studios in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney regularly need a planting schedule drafted, a render pack turned around or a CAD set cleaned up — work that does not require anyone to visit a site.
We focus on five disciplines only: planting design, hardscape layout, CAD drafting, 3D rendering and irrigation design. That narrowness is deliberate. It means every designer on the platform is a specialist, and every brief is written by someone who understands the craft.
We operate across Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales, with Australia-wide remote briefs open to any designer on the platform. All amounts are in Australian dollars.
